The second quarter of this year has been a period of both profound challenge and significant impact. As we continue to navigate complex humanitarian landscapes, our teams remain steadfast in their commitment to delivering essential services across our operational focus areas in southern Somalia. Through resilience and community-led partnership, we have achieved critical milestones in health, nutrition, education, and WASH initiatives.

Key Achievements:

  • Health & Nutrition: We successfully expanded our malnutrition screening and stabilization services. By deploying mobile health units to reach remote populations, we have significantly increased the number of children and pregnant women receiving therapeutic feeding support.

  • WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene): Recognizing that water is the lifeline of these communities, we rehabilitated three key boreholes and installed new solar-powered pumping systems. These interventions have secured sustainable water access for thousands, drastically reducing the prevalence of waterborne diseases.

  • Education: We continue to bridge the learning gap by supporting temporary learning centers and providing pedagogical training for local educators. Empowering the next generation remains central to our long-term vision of stability and development.

None of this would be possible without the unwavering dedication of our field staff and the trust of the communities we serve. While the obstacles are mounting, our collective impact is growing stronger.

We invite you to explore the full details of our successes, data-driven insights, and the stories behind these numbers. Read the full Q2 update here: 2026 Q2 Newsletter NWO
