Restoring Hope Through Education: Teaching Materials Help Vulnerable Children Return to School in Guri’el

Distribution of teaching and learning materials helped the drought affected vulnerable children access education in schools. The distributed materials relieved parents from the burden of cost of TLM. Vulnerable parents whose children access target schools express their gratitude and explain how the intervention helped them.

Iftin Hassan Haji, a parent whose children attend Salman Al-fariis used to run a small business in Guricel town but her business collapsed three months ago. She stopped sending her children to school last term due to lack of TLM.

She however, sent children back to school when the community was sensitized about the intervention. She said the project created hope for her children and relieved her the burden of buying TLM amid financial constraints. She hopes that SHF will extend the project till the prevailing drought is over.
